Top Strut Mount Wobble.
Had a bit of a squeak going on for a week, this goes away once the car is warmed up, say 3-5 minutes......
Today, having a look under and 'in' I find this: http://vid280.photobucket.com/albums...ps0fyprv5m.mp4 (Sorry if the vid makes you seasick, I was filming with one hand and wobbling with t'other) I take it that it will be the culprit..... I've looked on a couple of websites but not sure exactly what I'm looking for... If any one can point me at the right part with a linky To fit this, I take it the whole strut needs to be removed from the car? Is this one of those jobs that requires both sides to be done for 'good practice? Is it dangerous to drive locally as it is? Thanks in advance.....

It does look like that top spring seat is shot. You'll be experiencing reduced damping affect but the spring will remain seated so the car could be driven for short journeys before you fix it. It will require removal of the strut but that is a quick and easy job: three small bolts at the top and two large ones at the hub carrier. Take care when using coil spring compressors.
GSF mounts lasted me less than two years so I replaced with OEM which should last longer hopefully... |

Hello, You wanted links to visuals:
Here's one for the seat alone: http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/5786...Front-8646713/ Here's a kit to consider if your strut bearings are rough. Note: the strut bearings are the things with the 3 nuts atop. Sometimes they last and last. Other times they're as rusty as can be.: http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/5786...Front-8646713/ Cheers, Kira |

This job was finally done today, in all that time I managed to get away with using the car only once for about an 8 mile round trip.
The old one was certainly dead! Mobly mec did it for me.... took him about 35 minutes! He was here for 2hrs as sorted a few niggles out on the other two Ovlovs for me. 60 euros total. Oh, the replacement was a Febi Bilstein one. Thanks!
