1) you need to grease the outer metal to aid insertion
2) put BOTH bolts in same time 3)tube drift or blunt small chisel onto the steel held tight to the rubber. Whack, and nip bolts, whack and nip bolts - keep going until all in needs solid support underneath. dont use a claw hammer - need a proper lump hammer dont worry about the spline like ridges |

My method is to attach the control arm to the ball joint, get the ball joint into the hub as far as it will go with the bolts, then jack under the ball joint / arm, putting the weight of the car on it, and then gradually tap the balljoint housing into the hub working either side of it with a cold chisel and lump hammer. Nasty, dangerous, but it works.
