When I last spoke to him, he's looking like he might be able to get the car fully forged as it's looking like the head gasket that's gone and will get it all done at the same time.

F*****g T4 headgaskets.......the one downside to owning a T4. Seems to be a common thing after 140k miles.

Quote:
The most common old block HG failure syndrome that catches many owners out, is a tiny pin hole (Might be just high time corrosion related) that allows small amounts of anti freeze to contaminate the engine oil without producing any obvious signs like coffee cream etc. The AF reacts with the detergents in the oil that are supposed to keep the block sludge free, that slows down the oil flow around the head causing the HG to heat up in an uneven manner which then causes a real crack or fries the turbo bearings up. Hope Alex has got his winter tyres on, as it's snowing where I am and I'm a long way South of Skandixland.

I'm glad I cant read the above. I bet it goes into the nth degree about oil contamination with anti freeze and reasons as to why a headgasket can fail due to "poor maintenance" or such like.
