Volvo do their own but as far as I'm aware they can only be used if the load divider is fitted. (Which also needs the metal guard fitting as well.) Are you just looking for a guard, as a full cage may be the easier and better option!

I Agree with tt82 - having seen a volvo rear-ended and the side window break I will only carry our dogs in cages. Used to have tailgate guards only until then.
Look at MMG guards, they made ours. Cost will be around £450 for a full cage with removable divider and 2 doors plus escape doors at the front in case someone goes in the back of you and tailgate won't open. Also log onto Agilitynet and go to fleamarket as second hand ones come up.

We have had a couple of dog guards made by Barjo - www.barjo.co.uk which have both been a good fit and well made, but for a 2007+ V70/XC70 you have to bore holes in the trim.

not the cheapest but transK9 boxes are very well thought of.
I have the volvo setup ( as per link pics above) and its not bad, supplied & fitted by dealer FOC as sweetener on a new car deal. Had they not done so I would have had a transK9, you can sourse 'used' ones too much cheaper... |

Depends how big your dog is.
We have 2 dogs. 1 Big, 1 Small. Big one has always been in a cage in our V70. Opted for the cage as like you said, when i open the boot lid i wanted to make sure they didn't run out into the road etc, and having the volvo cage door thing was way to expensive for what it was. Plus the cage will keep them safer in a bump, and no out the window as cbee said. We've got a savic cage http://www.savic.be/dog-residence-mobile-91-cm We have the sloped part against the back seats and the flat part against the boot lid. Fits great, and can also use the over half of the boot for storage etc The little dog has moved out the cage in the boot into his own little travel cage that sits on the middle rear seats, and the seat belt goes around it to hold it in place. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00K6685N...CYRPK38O&psc=1

Hmm
I saw a similar thread on a American forum and basically the OP wanted the cage to stop the dogs jumping out when the boot was opened. I held my tongue but I was sorely tempted to suggest that some dog obedience classes would be a wiser investment. |

If anyone's got a folding dog, then there's a guard to suit for sale: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=230462
