Started with Immobiliser message and not starting
Hi
Apologies as I am new to forums, so sorry if this is in the wrong place, or I don't use the correct terminology. I went to use my C30 2007 today, and I wasn't getting anything, I turned the key but nothing. No messages or radio. So I jumped it, and I got the radio on lights etc. But now I was getting a Immobiliser see manual message. swell as something to do with anti skid error. Looked online, seem to be a fairly common problem, with a few different solutions. Tried them all with no luck. However, no my car is 100% dead, I can't use my key to unlock the car, it doesn't do anything when the key is in. Literally dead.... Except from a constant ticking noise coming from my fuse box under the glove box. It's always going, even now, without the key in. I couldn't see any lose fuses or relays. I am completely lost and can only assume the garage is my next stop and it feel like it will be pricey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

How did you jump your car?
Did you hook the batteries together or did you hook the positives together and the negative of the good to the earth of your car? |

Disconnect the battery and leave overnight. Once you reconnect it, is the ticking noise still there? If it is are you 100% sure it's coming from the footwell and not the ignition barrel (the slot where you put the key). Also can you hear the barrel release the steering lock / move the key when inserted?

Fixed !!
Hi,
Thanks for replying. It was a dead battery ( obviously ) the AA spent 1.5 hours trying to get it started, plugged in his computer which wasn't picking the car up correctly at all. Then he realised the Engine management light wasn't coming on! The fuse had blown. a 3 amp fuse stopped the car from starting and wouldn't allow diagnostics to be done. As soon as the fuse was replaced, it started without a problem. He ran diagnostics, all was good and cleared. And it was a new battery ( £70 ) So all in all an easy fix, but a pain in the ass to solve. Hopefully this might help someone else who is struggling. Thanks again |
