Default engine choice - t5 or period carb turbo?

what would you do?

build a t5 240 - with all the expense of using a rare gearbox and custom ecu.

or spend £500 on the r-sport turbo carb kit on ebay right now.

i already have the b230ft and redblock m90.

i was thinking 16v head too, but that might just make things over complicated.

a whiteblock m90 is going to cost me £500 no matter what, and id love to keep it simple with a period r sport touch.

but running on a carburettor on todays fuel prices scares me, and i really wanted to run LPG to try and control my monthly fuel bill a little.
i don't even know if it is possible to run a turbo carb lpg system....

what do you friendly people think?

In all seriousness though, the carb turbo on eBay is vastly overpriced. If you want a cheap turbo then fit one from a 940. That's what I would do if I wanted a nippy 240 without any hassle of an engine swap. Bung in a redblock and be done with it.....don't bother ****ing about with carb turbos, it's ancient tech and not worth the hassle

You can run turbo on lpg....if you really wanted too , you could turbo the car for 500 tops , it doesn't have to anything fancy...

That r sport kit is only really for die yards, you could turbo a carb model easily , but you must have the correct carb , which is still available from burlen fuel systems....

if i was going to do a carb turbo, it would have to be that r sport package. i cant see any reason for using carb over injection unless you are going for originality.

i cant afford it now anyway, some things you just have to walk away from...

just got to keep an eye out for some old giffer selling a 960 manual for cheap!
