M4 gearbox

Hi, what's the difference between an M4 and an M40 gearbox,Are they interchangeable ?

Quick response. I think M4 was for B16 engines, M40 for B18/B20.

Some B16's had an M40, granted very few. Bolt spacing id different for the B18 variety but they can be re-drilled.
