Default 855/T5 Turbo

1996 855 T5 205,000 miles

Question about turbo please

I have checked all the pipes and as far as I can tell all ok and sound, but recently on acceleration, the vacuum gauge only rises just over the centre mark and the turbo does not really seem to kick in.

Ignition in good order, recent plugs/cap/rotor and leads and the only other thing a few days ago is spray out idle control and throttle butterfly with the £8.00 Halfords supplied cleaner which seems pretty good, any other ideas or things I should look at? I have checked the thin white pipe from the tree at front of engine bay

Many thanks

The actuator where the pin is wears elongated on the turbo so therefore it does reduce boost ......perhaps adjust it a couple of turns in?

Check the vacuum pipe visible above the power steering pump tucked in on the end of the head/manifold.the little elbow is always breaking and leaking the boost away. It will usually trigger a fault code for long term fuel trim after a while.

Thanks will have a proper look in daylight, is this the elbow that comes in between 1 & 2 injectors as you face engine? has a solid black pipe running from it?

Have now had a chance to have a better look, the pipes all seem to be in order. but the waste gate actuator road is very gungy ( sort of like corrosion of ages) and the connecting end goes into a boot.

Also, on a static run up to full throttle, the boost gauge only just goes over the centre mark and there is a fearsome juddering and at not under load, boost gauge moves around in the left side of the gauge, any thoughts please and thank you
