Default Need advice

Hi Guys,

the xc70 I have wheel spun on some grass, so I have checked the drive, well sort of, I lifted the car off all 4 wheels, put it into drive and only the front wheels turn in drive, the back wheels stayed where they were, then I dropped her back down again, lifted just one front wheel, put in N and the drive shaft rotates.

I know its something to do with the haldex, did a search, could you point me in the direction of what to do next, with some pictures if possible, i'm handy with the spanners so that's not a problem, I've never worked on a Volvo 4wd before.

all help/advice is greatly appreciated

Alan

should say there are no codes showing on the dash either

I'm pretty sure it uses the same/ similar system as the xc90. A common failure is the angle drive sleeve. If you can rotate the prop shaft with the car on the ground then this is an indication this sleeve has worn out. There is a kit for the repair but if neglected can mean a whole new angle gear. As I don't own an awd that is the extent of my limited knowledge however hopefully someone else will be able
To help. Have a look in the xc90 section as it's covered more there.

Thanks Graham, not tried that one, will pop out and try it, bloody annoying, car has full Volvo service history, the stuff they have not done is alarming, even stupid things like fuel filters, mine was black when I changed it on the service.

cheers

Alan

ok so I tried the prop in drive and park, it spins freely, so I guess the drive sleeve it shot, am I right in thinking this?
