Were the filters branded as one of the long since defunct and previously well respected filter makers - now subject to a brand-name purchase?
Is it worth chancing your engine with what may not be the best of filters simply because they are cheap?

Both were man filters and seem good quality as i have used before.

just had both oil changes and new brakes (discs &pads) by my mechanic friend, he noticed the back tyres were close to the limits so 2 new tyres today £90 fitted

That's real cheap for one of the very best full synthetics around. Shell are often cheaper than Castrol or Mobil, but this seems to be much cheaper than normal.

Mann filters are good, BUT check it says made in Germany on them.
