Default V70 2005 Key Programming

I need to buy a second key for my V70. I see the button section with a blank blade attached on eBay quite cheaply. is there any benefit to buying from dealer etc?

Can these be programmed easily or is this a main dealer function as well?

The eBay ones make brilliant paperweights not much good for anything else.
main dealer only.

Main dealer sorts everything.
Roughly £200 but some on here have paid more....... and less. Depends on the dealer.

Trouble is Volvo hold the magic numbers issued with each car and these are necessary to code the key .They plead security reasons for not releasing the numbers ,so that it is well nigh impossible to forge keys .And for this they do charge the large sums mentioned .Hence why it is important to see that you have two keys when you buy a car or knock £200 off the price .

Understood. Yes, I got money off the car to compensate, just didn't want to over pay :-)
