OK, Mr Candles, you got me there - but what happened to the ECU is still puzzling me?

I have a 52 plate S60 D5 S and it needs an ecu as it doesn't have one.
Can anyone help me with a part number as obviously I don't have one.

Many thanks.
Unfortunately it is going to cost you around £1000 to sort this , it will need a brand new ECU and software loading at a volvo dealer .. The ECU is part of the immobiliser system and is coded to the car . I'm sure the seller knew this or he would have already sorted it .

Not sure what you are trying to say 4candles.

Sorry to confuse some of you but the car was exchanged with no ecu. along with no battery. I have replaced the battery but need advice on the ecu hence contacting you lovely lot for advice.

I have contacted the link above and explained the situation so lets hope I get somewhere with that.

Thanks to those who have put forward their constructive opinions, I have taken them on-board.

Too cryptic for you? soz.....

I was trying to reiterate your point that you definately did not have the orignal ECU to those that overlooked that critical bit of info, very constructive i thought.

That's the thing with typing not talking, sarcasm can be a waste of time as can be observed by your comment.

Buying a car without an ECU can be a waste of time and an awful lot of money to remedy, as can be observed by your comment.

I came to this forum looking for some help as I knew nothing of these cars. For the most part everyone has been very helpful as all I was seeking was advice, but there is always someone willing to display their lack of wit and intelligence through sarcasm.
You sir have shown to all that you don't belong here by lowering yourself to the lowest form of wit. I therefore am withdrawing my registration and membership from here in protest and will compile a letter to the administrator concerning your comments.

Please accept my apologies, i didn't realise posting before the water-shed would invoke such an unusual reaction...

Seriously, get yourself a Volvo that works and you will receive plenty valuable assistance to help you look after it, but alas sarcasm can only be combated with reciprocal mirth or one can simply choose to ignore it.
I bid you Good luck.
