s60 service reset
Volvo S60 D5 SE Auto 2002 - 62,000 miles
I would like to reset the "regular service" warning. Is there a way to reset without a tool or visiting the dealer. If I need a tool, any recomendations. |

RE: s60 service reset
Yes the S60 is reset without a tool. You must have some distance on the odometer (trip) i.e. not 0000. I need to check my books to get the exact sequence for you but if I remember correctly it is two short presses 1 second max on the trip reset followed by a long one 15 seconds. I will get back to you on this one.

RE: s60 service reset
Back again - I got the sequence wrong on the last posing try the following:
Have miles on the trip. Ignition switched off Press reset and hold down Turn on ignition but do not start engine wait 10 seconds and service light should start flashing Release button within 4 seconds of light starting to flash. If you are late the flashing will stop but the service light remains on so you have to drive round the block to put some distance on the clock and start again. Note for C70 and S80 owners your proceedure is slightly different. Nigel |

RE: s60 service reset
Hi there Steve, Nigel,
It looks like this question refers to a 2002 S60 with the multi-function computer messaging system, as opposed to just a Service reminder light in the instrument panel. I have a 2002 D5 SE auto and earlier today happened to look on this website to answer the same question < http://www.swedespeed.com > Having followed several threads with various procedures, these were the clearest instructions I could find. I tried them a couple of hours ago and they worked first time! 1. Turn the ignition key to position I. 2. Ensure that the trip display is on T1 and shows some miles (not zero). Press and hold the T1 reset button and wait for the odometer to set to zero. 3. Turn the ignition key to position II, and watch the odometer. 4. When the previously displayed miles reappears, release the trip reset button. Hope that it works for you also. Regards, Andy |

Hi andy
Thanks for taking the time to post a suggestion and the link to swedespeed. I used your sequence this morning and the reset has worked fine. Thanks again Steve Shaw |

RE: s60 service reset
Hi,
This very subject has been driving me up the wall......the garage I use said they would look into it at the 60,000 miles service. After using your procedure, my service reminder is now off at 73,000 miles. Many many thanks. Telecide "Sharks don't attack lawyers out of professional courtesy" |

Re: Engine Service Light Reset
Hello. I have a 2000 C70; the service engine light turns on upon engine startup, then turns off by itself merely a few minutes later. What might the procedure be to get rid of this pesky problem?
Thank you for your help. Quote:

Let's resurrect an old thread as this came up in a Google search today when looking to reset the service interval in my dads 2005 S60 D4 today.
I had to adjust the procedure slightly to:- 1. Turn the ignition key to position I. 2. Ensure that the trip display is on T1 and shows some miles (not zero). 3. Press and hold the T1 reset button and wait for the odometer to set to zero. 4. Turn the ignition key to position II. 5. When the yellow triangle flashes around 5 seconds later, release the trip reset button and a bong will sound to confirm reset has been completed.
