Last year it was the V70's turn. When we got back home it had done 4,000 miles.

Neither car had any issues at all. The C70 had 68K miles, the V70 130K.

When I moved to the UK in 2009 I had to sell my '92 940SE 114 hp Auto (American model with a factory wing - silly). At that time the odometer showed 310,000 miles.

Everything worked, the sunroof, the A/C, everything like new inside. The only thing that showed it's age was the sun bleached paint (dark grey doesn't do well in Arizona sun)..=*^)

The engine had only had service items, cam belts, oil changes and so on.

Best car I've ever owned.
That's an impressive length of trip !! I assume you done that over the period of a week or so yeah ?

We drove ours to Chamonix and back, about 1800 miles in total, it also never missed a beat and surprised many foreign drivers on the motorway in the alps where it out performed some very much more modern cars!! On average we managed to get 31 mpg, which in a V70 T5 on a long run loaded with stuff was not bad at all. Mine is a 98, so pre ME7 which I much prefer, I would not be without it.

The trip itself to Sweden in 2013 (end destination was an island just NW of Gothenburg) was done in two days (including the long way around in Jylland, Denmark) and the return trip took the same time.

But we did some driving around in Sweden during the 5 weeks we were there - hence the distance.

2015 with the V70 was 5 months in Sweden - again to the same island just NW of Gothenburg where we keep a 9 meter yacht.

Best car i have ever had! And i have had 2013 BMWs, 2007 A4s various Mercs but my 17 year old mint V70 2.5CD is the car i enjoy driving the most, these cars are so well built, merc had a reputation for over engineering there 190 model back in the day, i believe the 90s 850s and v70s and a host of older volvos also fall into this category.

I'm doing the Screwball Rally later in the year.

1400 miles or so in 5 days + beer. Should be a good Craic.

Doing it in a 400 series though, hopefully the 460 Turbo in my SIG if it's ready. I must be mad! Lol

Just worked it out at 2150 miles including Manchester to Dover and back.

What have I let myself in for...

*holds head in hands!*

I think If you know a few people that rally looks good fun !
Travelling through Europe to see lots of sites you would normally never see would be the big appeal for me.
I see the basic entrance fee is £195 but whats your estimate for fuel, food, potential breakdown/repairs, extras etc
Would you taking about 1G with you approx ?
One thing's for sure it will be a damn good test for the car lol.

Yeah, a grand sounds about right.

Rough guess on fuel about £400ish.

Me my best mate in my 460T, trying to persuade the other lads to get Volvos.

Should be a good laugh. Don't necessarily have to stick to the prescribed route, so can always wander around a little.

Aye, certainly will be a test for the car. Currently half way through a partial rebuild.
Unless I pull my finger out, it'll be the first hover car to do the run!
