FWIW - the advertised price is much less than I paid for it (from a dealer). I've checked the carbuying sites, and 'Carching' will give me 3k for it, so that kinda puts a floor on the valuation for me. Cannot believe the lack of interest for this spec/price. Mad.

You will get interest but everyone wants a bargain, I'm wondering if this new culture of cheap leasing deals is devaluing used cars.

Perhaps you will find more interest after March time, it's still a bit early in the year maybe?

Hi Vallinco
I too was an Alfanut for a long time all the usual but ended GTV 3.0 and finally GT 3.2
Then had enough and am currently in a C30 T5 albeit auto I don't care what a great car. Just as quick as the 3.2 but on a run up to Newark on the weekend got 33mpg and it feels as solid as a tiger tank lol
Sure some of the styling is quirkier than the Alfa and the badge has gone but a small price to pay for what is a great motor...oh and it had the polestar treatment from new lol. Keep a look out for one although rare bellalicious lol

Yeah, i've had them all. Sprint (with the 1.7 boxer engine and twin Weber carbs), a weisel GT, a few 156's including a GTA. Last one was a 156 Selespeed with a flappy paddle gearbox (manual gearbox / clutch controlled by ECU). The GTA had the 3.2 Busso, same as your GT no doubt. 250bhp. Had to sell it as it did 20mpg, cost me best part of 1k for belt service every 35k or 3 years and things kept falling off it. What a car though and if i hadn't of sold it would be worth north of 7k by now (hindsight!).

I've already got my eye on a few more powerful cars (including a T5 or maybe a Legacy GT-B) but i need to sell this Volvo first!

Going from a Busso V6 to a 4 banger Ford Diesel was always going to be a bit of a shock! I can just, JUST tolerate my mapped D5 but every time I drive a car with a non skinflint engine I wonder if it really is worth it to save £150 a month on fuel.

Good luck with the sale! If you otherwise liked the car try a manual D5, it has actual character and even a nice noise when pressing on.

Thanks guys. Yes my lack of foresight is almost laughable. As you say, it was a bit of shock, although the busso was the one before last. I was coming from a 156 2.0 petrol. Sadly written off in the floods over xmas.

The answer to your question, is, its totally not worth it to save the the money on fuel! I now realise that. Life is too short IMO. But i am trying to sell the S40, so i better start extolling its virtues!

I can honestly say it has the best seats of any car i've owned and feels tank like solid. IE. They seem super well built (from my limited perspective and certainly compared to Alfas ive had).

Its just not enough for me i'm afraid though. Personal choice.

Volvo now sold almost at asking price. First guy who viewed bought it.

Hope he has many many miles of happy motoring ahead of him.

We had a debate about cambelts and knew his volvos better than me. He was certain it should be 108k or 5 years. Wasn't going to get knocked down any more on price (already reduced it from 3999) because of it though. If Volvo UK say 144k, for me, regardless of the merits of it, its 144k.

Hopefully i'll be back with T5!
