Default thanks and advise

After 6 years resto finally got an mot and driven my P1800e. I.d like to thank Andrew I did call your mechanic but in the same week found I needed a new wood burner so my funds got diverted. Managed to do more work myself and got a friend to help weld.

Been for 2 outings to find the diff gets noisy quite quickly it has oil in so most be worn not sure if you can get a full repair kit?

The amp light comes on but when I turn the ignition off and on it goes off and it can be ok again some times for quite a while.

Other than that it drives well any advise regards the diff? It a71 e model.

Ha, my mechanic has just rebuilt my diff using parts from another one! I think it was a bit of headache: paying the bill is now my headache and I also have central heating problems, so it sounds like we're in the same boat, one way or another. If it's the same diff as the Amazon I think new parts are hard to come by so you may need a donor diff.

Well done for getting on the road!

Try changing the diff oil out- a cheap stop gap would be to put some additive in with the oil-- Lucas oils do one

Sadly, this will only do you for about a year depending on mileage.

After 6 plus years the alternator brushes might be sticking or may actually be past their best. Easy to remove/check/clean/replace. With the engine running and the light on, put a meter across the battery and see what voltage you get. You can also do the same with the light out when it should actually be charging and maybe showing 13-14v.

Had a noisy/rumbling sound from my rear (actually under the Amazon) as well until 5 weeks ago. I also told mechanic to change rear oil he disagreed but I was persistent - he was correct. Problem- front pinion seal in diff as well as improperly aligned universal joints. Perhaps this will be of some help.
