swirl flap arm mod
I bought a new swirl flap control arm as I noticed mine was missing. No faults or codes showing up.
I looked at the flap lever and it already has a hole through it? I was expecting to have to drill a hole through it? Anyway I drilled a 0.5mm hole through the ball of the new arm, the ball is hollow with a recess at the rear of the ball. I simply used a tiny split pin to lock the ball into the slightly broken socket, neatly folded the ends over and checked that it opens and shuts without fouling. I have clipped it together and all seems well. I'm just a bit confused as to why using a split pin is not the recommended method? It was so quick and easy?

On my D5, looking from the front into the engine bay, remove the engine cover, on the left of the engine cover and slightly down about four inches is a servo box linked by a plastic arm to a control arm on the head.
The arm may be hanging off or missing. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=224688

If the leak isnt that big try a rubberlike compound to seal it a bit but its not an optimal solution |
