missing mileage

hi im new to this forum can any one help with this problem all lights on the dashboard work except the mileage window the message section is ok has anyone any ideas what is wrong the car is a 2002 s80

Your DIM could be failing, it's a fairly common problem on these cars at that sort of age. If it goes altogether, there is a cheap fix thru a guy on this forum.

Could be the light bulb in DIM.
I believe I saw some where in the forum using a torch light you can see the mileage reading in that case.

I'd believe is rather the back light bulb. In day light, look from close at the display, if you can see a shadow of numbers, the bulb needs replaced. Don't disconnect the DIM, just pull it from there and replace the bulb. Don't put the key in the ignition at any moment when the bulb is being removed.
