RHS headlight for 1990 740 GLE

Hi,

I have a 1990 740GLE and need either a replacement headlight or to learn how to repair the headlight. The glass is cracked and the silvering inside is a bit discoloured.

If anyone has this type of headlight for sale I would be interested to know.
I think they changed the headlight type maybe around 1989, I see lots advertised on ebay but they look to be a different design & electrical connector.

Post a picture of the existing light you want to replace .. much easier.

I have posted a pic of the LHS headlight as its possible to get a better picture of it. The one I want is the RHS to go with this.

I see plenty on ebay such as the link below but it does not look the same

Any advice on if I can use one like the ebay link, or good scrappers to try would be very welcome. I'm new here and glad of any help

Looking at that other thread mine is a facelift model.
So maybe it's a case of checking with local Volvo dealer, Euro Car Parts and also investigating getting the light restored.

Does anyone know of headlight restorers in the west midlands area ?

Steve Quinn broke a lower spec facelift 740 last year. Contact him on 07977 254252 and he might be able to help you with front lamps.

If he's got nothing then you can either patch up the lense with clear tape and wait for the next breaker to come along; or, like you say, go to Euro, GSF or Braydon.

As for "restoring", you need a lense and a reflector. Somebody might be prepared to sell you these separately but for the price of a used complete unit it's probably not worth breaking one down.
