Question How much petrol will 940 2.0SE be using?

Hi,

can anybody reliably predict, how much petrol 940 2.0SE from 1993 will be using? Or just estimate - much or not? There's one quite nicely looking in the advert and that is one of my concerns - fuel usage. Do you know any other obvious things I should be suspicious about when going to buy this model? They say it's MOTed till November 2007.

Thank you for your help,

Lukasz

Old volvo's arent the cars you buy if you worry about fuel consumption.

typically mid 25's or around 30 on a run.

If you want economy, buy a VW Lupo diesel.

Cool

No, it's not about economy; I just don't want to spend everything on fuel. 10l/100km what you tell me is quite acceptable, I guess. Thanks for the estimate.

dont know if this is any use to you but i put £20 in my 2 ltr turbo on sunday upto now i've got 126 miles out of it with a bit left to go, thats a lot of start stop town work & few reasonable good runs, what it converts to in miles i havent got a clue.

whilst on the subject of fuel could anyone tell me if the 940 has any sort of fuel light & reserve amount, coz i cant remember

Default OK, not bad.

Yes, it is of great use! I do not worry about fuel prices any more, it's quite moderate what you guys say here. Anyway - I understand that fuel usage is not the most important number about volvo.

Thanks!

I understand what you mean, but a VW nowadays is very far from the "people's car" idea...Here in Portugal all tasks in a referenced VW garage are too expensive, and properly the 3 cyl diesel engine is not very reliable...and to the low fuel consumption you have to add some (lots of) oil to keep running at all...

Yep, thats pretty much what I got from my 1994 2.0l turbo 940 estate (manual). The 2.3 LPT is notably more thirsty.

Default fuel consumption

I had a 940gl for 7.5 years and I would agree with 25 - 30 miles to the gallon. Which I think is good, especially when you consider the reliability of these cars. the only cost to me was renewing tax, insurance and mots so 30mpg is great!!
my dad has a website all about the town we live in. He's worked so hard putting it together but has had very few hits. could you make an old man happy by visiting? Please?? Here's his website address:
