Strange noises
Just bought an 850 T5 estate 1994, was agreed when I bought it that an ECU fault would be checked at a Volvo dealer which has now been done also a strange noise to be checked out seems to be from behind both headlamps after the engine has been run, the Volvo dealer says it is the wiper motors going all the time and diconnected them by pulling apart a connector in two largish red wires connected direct to the battery via a 40amp fuse and a 15amp fuse above the left headlamp and connected to a relay on the radiator panel , I am 90% certain this has nothing to do with the wipers, it sounds like a pump one that is about to pack in though does any one have any ideas
Can't find anything in what Haynes call a manual, I call it a joke what is the point of a manula that doesn't tell you anything but take it to a dealer !! Thanks Flagman |

RE: Strange noises
It'd be easy enough to check - just reconnect the plug and see what happens.
However, I'm rather amazed that the dealer has simply disabled your headlamp wipers rather than repairing them at vast expense, doesn't sound like any dealer I know... |

RE: Strange noises
Hi, I've just bought an 850 se estate and it seems to have the same problem. It's a buzzing rattle that sounds like dry or worn bearings on a pump or motor from the LHS (passenger) footwell area.
It usually happens at about 1.5K revs / 25mph and just after I've taken my foot off the gas. I've got visions of it being the fuel pump or something like that. Can anyone help? I've only had the car a day but I'm so impressed with it. Glad to be an 850 owner at last :) Andy |
