Think I seem to have been the first to receive a letter from my dealer last Monday. Just had a call from them now to confirm the appointment tomorrow, they'll be picking the car up first thing, leaving us a car and returning ours at the end of the day.

Currently very happy with the service I'm getting.

I've not had a letter but mine is in for 18k miles service today and also they are doing the recall work at the same time and a few bits of warranty work too.

Should get it back Wednesday pm, easier with big software downloads to get it in overnight. They even offered to put the latest maps in too.

Dribbling water jet at back
Slightly loose trim round wheel arch

Dodgy temp gauge
Broken centre tunnel trim (covering the isolator switch)

Think that is it, bits and bobs really.

Is that the passenger side rear wheel arch. The reason I ask is when I touched the rear mudflap to see what they were like I was surprised how much play there seemed to be with the rear bumper where it joins the wheel arch.

Had a rattle in the dash above the driver display that was fixed, now hearing rattles from what sounds like the 2nd row of seats on and off.

I'm getting an occasional rattle from the back too. Jiggled the seats and the rear luggage cover and they seemed to go away.

The loose wheelarch trim is on the front drivers side, nearest to the door and is something of nothing really. Just a few mil proud of the bodywork, so I guess just needs re-clipping.

Dealer dropped my car back from the recall yesterday, all good, no work required.

I did however need a new hose on the PowerPulse compressor, see here.

The car came back from the dealer yesterday and I learned a little bit more about the problem.

Under the drivers feet there is carpet, then insulation, then a false plastic floor, then a void and finally the metal floor of the car.

In this void there are a number of electronic control units for various items.

The danger is that the water from the aircon drain hoses leaks out (through a faulty hose or a poor fitting I guess - I don't know) and then runs down and into this void where it collects with no way out. It obviously then shorts out and generally interferes with the electronics.

They have now checked about a dozen cars on the recall work and they have found none that exhibit the fault.

They saw one car pre-recall with the symptoms (lots of electronic errors and a dash lit up like a Christmas tree) and their investigation led them to finding the water in this area. This was shortly prior to the recall.

I have still not had a letter about the recall, but would assume that they are spacing them out so that the dealers can cope with the work.

To be fair, this is very like the previous XC90, and many other cars.
AC drains/sunroof drains etc. affect all brands of cars.

If you've wet feet in a 90 you're often sat on 6"/a good few litres of water, as there's a lot of room between the floor your feet feel and the floorpan of the car.

This photos was taken under the driver's seat between the alloy seat base looking towards the bottom of the floorpan. There's a lot of room in there for looms, ducting and modules. It's a similar situation on the otherside of the crossmembers. It needs to be dry in there.
