Default CD Autochanger

Hello Volvo fans

I would like to put a CD autochanger into my C70 (year 2000) as my 3 disc cartridge jumps and doesn't play my own compilation CDs. Does anyone have experience on what type/brand is suitable. I had a JVC one but cant find an adaptor for it. I dont want to replace the head unit but instead use the 6CD button for the autochanger.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi You will need to check what head unit you have, if it's and "SC" type eg. SC900/901, any Alpine 6xx series 6 CD autochanger that works with M-Bus will fit with the following converter;

http://www.alphacaraudio.co.uk/ViewP...anger&Search=Y

I'm just about to order a converter for a Alpine 630 CD changer to go in the boot of my V70R which comes prewired to the boot with Mini-Din connector.
The unit above changes it to normal Din which is on the changer

From the description, you have one of the SC 9nn series head units.

This head unit will support any of the Volvo badged 6-CD changer units (such as are often seen on eBay) and yous car should already be wired for such a unit. The chsnger end of the cable should be tucked up under the trim in the off-side boot 'wheel-well' area. Such a unit will not require any adaptor.

You could also use one of the Alpine CHM-6nn series of changers (the M-Bus changers, not the S-Bus changers) but you will also require a separate lead to connect the changer to the head end plus an adaptor to convert the Alpine lead to fit the head unit. The adaptor also does some impulse 'translations'. The power for the Alpine unit will be supplied via the main connection cable so the adaptor will require a permanent power pick-up. The new cost for the adaptor is in the region of £60.00 (I get mine from the States for a good bit less than that via eBay).
