Default Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder

What's the advice guys? Buy a new clutch cylinder (£42) and slave cylinder (£41) or a seal kit for both at under £20?

Is it a straight forward job or not worth getting dirt under my nails for?

Depends on the condition of the bores in the cylinders. If they're good or you can get then honed then re-rubber. If not then new cylinders.

Salut!

s&g;

I agree with pookie...check condition of bores, and if rebuildable, that would be my first choice also (along with conversion to DOT5 and an O'Ringed Slave Cylinder, see: http://www.sw-em.com/hydraulic_clutch_tech_article.htm )...because those low priced replacements sound like china trash, known for sometimes disappointing when new!

Cheers

Hi Ron - sent you an email at ronk@intelab.com . Hope you received it. It was for an order of the O ringed clutch piston and brake switch for a P1800. Tried to pm but it bounced back. Thanks in advance. [apologies for hijacking thread]

Default Master cylinder

Triumph recycler, on e-bay, does a master cylinder for £28 including postage. I have these on both my Amazons and they are fine. Mind you, Land Rover series 3 ones look identical, and they're only a tenner. I put new seals in the slaves, as the bores weren't too bad, and they're still going strong.
Regards, Andy.

Thanks to you all for your responses. I think I'm going to re-seal the master seeing as that one isn't leaking and completely change the slave seeing as that one is proper dripping AND looking at those pictures in Ron's attachment.

First job is to get the old girl started up and out into the open air. Then it's up onto a car trailer and off to the welders for another couple of inner wings. That's how long I've owned it: it's the second time!
