Fuel filler flap won't unlock = Urgent help n

I went to fill up my 2001 V70 tonight but the fuel filler flap will not unlock. I'm down to about 40 miles worth of petrol. Hopefully I can get to a dealer tomorrow, but has anyone any suggestions as to the cause of the failure or an emergency fix?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Had same problem with my 96 850. Expect yours is same.
Take up carpet at rear off side floor of the estate, the bits right by the fuel filler. Then take off the carpet piece which covers the indicator lights. You will now see by the indicator lights there is a long stiff wire loop with a hole big enough to put your finger in. Give this loop a pull back and it will trip the filler flap lock open. i have to do this every time I fill up.

Probably won't help much, but I had a look on my V70 and could not find the said piece of wire.

I had this and only found the wire on the second fill up - what a plonker I thought - I took the lock motor out on the first! In the end I took out the central locking motor for the filler cap again ,which worked most of the time, oiled it lots and concluded that the lock bolt was sticking. So I enlarged with a drill the hole the bolt moves into in the locked position and the problem has never occurred again!
