500 mile rally
Hi, just completed the ACPC 500mile classic car regularity rally in 144. 750 km from Chaves in the north of Portugal to Faro in the Algarve, route national 2. The longest and oldest continual road in Portugal. 15 hours driving with 20 special sections. Rear engine oil seal went belly up half way through doing a fine job of lubricating the clutch plate! Apart from that the car behaved impeccably.

Well done. Rear oil seal can go all of a sudden when it's a lip seal but tends just to seep when the old style felt one is used. Felt is more tolerant even if you have to replace it every 20 years.
The link is to an excellent travelogue. It's VERY long. Anyone with Windows 10 should have the auto translate app enabled. This is done via extensions in settings. Means that whenever you click onto a foreign language web site it translates it automatically. Takes a few seconds to sort out the language and get the job done, but very efficient. Good for Swedish of course, and Portuguese....... |

If any body is thinking about taking a road trip this is one I would thoroughly recommend. Allow four or five days as you would be traveling through some of the most spectacular parts of the country. This Portugals "route 66"
