Default Smoking alternator

Ok, my T5 is misbehaving again, I went to where its stored yesterday to move it out to begin replacing the Rad, when I could see smoke coming from under the bonnet! quicker inspection shows it was coming from the alternator!!.

Can anyone recommend a good place for a rebuild in or near Kent? New look painfully expensive, and what should the output be when looking at new?

Many thanks in advance for any help

The output amps varied, most pre me7 cars , I.e. Up to mid 1998 had 100Amp a few without a/c and with manual gearbox had 80Amp.
The me7 cars normally had a 120 amp.
The mounts are completely different on the me7 cars.
Well you are at it , it is probably worth checking or changing the drive belt and tensioning assembly.
