  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Default reverse light switch

Hi. I'm just shopping around for a new reverse lights switch - am I right in saying the switches vary according the precise model - fuel & cc ? Mine is 1800 Petrol V40 2003.

Yes, I believe there are three or four types of switch. You're probably interested in part number 31367988. It's a new type connector reverse light switch for the M56 gearbox.

Thanks very much for that info, ww1dm1.

I'm also wondering whether these switches are restorable with a bit of cleaning etc ?

Default reverse light switch

i have an m56 gearbox(but a 1.9d) and the reverse switch on mine has 2 prongs sticking up.(is yours the same)when i looked at the wiring connector that attaches to the switch, i could see that i needed to re shape the cyndrical connectors.(bad connection)...i slightly overlapped mine so they would then fit snug to the reverse switch.apologies if yours is totally different.

Unlikely, I believe they are sealed units. Even if you do manage go get a bit more life of it by soaking it or something, getting to the switch again in the future will be more work than a new switch is worth, they aren't expensive at all. Replace and forget.

You have an old type switch with prongs on a P2?
