Front pipe with Cat for 2.5 20v
The exhaust is blowing either from the lattice betwen the cat and the flange or more likely from the union of the pipe with the flange thats bolted to the manifold. I've ordered the gasket to fit between the exhaust and the manifold to this if this resolves the problem. Is it possible to repair (weld) the pipe if it is blowing here? The cat and the rest of the pipe looks fine no holes or visible damage. Failing this has anyone out there got a new or used replacement at a reasonable price?

RE: Front pipe with Cat for 2.5 20v
Well none have replied but Im a happy man we took the front box off of the vehicle and found that the pipe had broken away from the flange the lattice was undamaged. We cleaned up the flange and the pipe, the flange is machined not cast we then packed the pipe to ensure nothing went into the cat and destroyed it. The pipe took the weld with no problems and I now have a silent car at only the cost of a drink to a friend with a TIG welder.

Well done, it's nice to aviod expensive parts.
I've had to repair the bracket that holds the tail pipe on mine, it was rusted through. A 'U' clamp and some welding fixed it. |
