Default V40 Brake Pad & Rotor Longevity

Hi,

Enjoying our new V40 D4 - and planning a few parts for the shelf for when they come due.

I understand that the XC60 can be hard on the rear pads with gentle braking - does anyone know if it is a similar characteristic with the V40?

Or - has the experience been that the front pads wear out first?

Also - is there any experience with having to replace disc rotors - front or rear? Did they last a couple of sets of pads?

By way of comparison, we had an Audi A1 that ran through a set of rear pads and rotors at 31,000km and a Mazda CX9 that went over 100,000km on original rotors and 1 set of pads.

Appreciate any thoughts,

Cheers

Mine got through a set of rear discs and pads in 40,000 miles - which I was pretty shocked with TBH! Front pads still original though, and only about 50% worn according to the dealer...

The rear brake pads on the XC60 wear out very quickly because they are constantly applied by the DSTC system of the car (i.e. nothing to do with normal braking) and in the XC60 the rear pads are relatively small relative to the size and mass of the car.

The V40 does not have this pad size / car mass imbalance and should therefore last longer.
