Horn switch
Hi. 69 144S horn. The brush contact has worn down and the wire and it's insulation inside the steering wheel is in bad condition. Help needed in finding a replacement, new or used in good nick.

Like so many details on Volvo 140s I presume no longer available new. As I have a pair of breaker 144s will look when there in the next few days. One is just a carcase now but the steering column may be in the store.

Hi,
Is your car fitted with the steering wheel with the butterfly shaped horn? My 70 Amazon has this type of wheel, though I don't recognise the part in your pic. Is the square copper section spring loaded? Has it now worn too short to make contact? Can the copper square section be removed from the plastic moulding to allow it to be replaced, with a new cable attached? |

Glad its sorted.Another thought on this.Maybe the brass earth pin from a UK 13 amp plug could be filed up to fit, to replace existing brush. This would give a terminal to secure a new flying lead.

Brass earth pin sounds good idea. I have exactly same problem on my '89 240. Brass bush end pin snapped off
