hello Putos.
It will be a miracle forever:-(
No one is able to help you.

What kind of car?
Ok, it will be a volvo.
Ok, it will be a older one.
Ok, maybe you did post in the right part of this forum.

It is a P1800?
It is a Amazon you ask about?
Year of production?
Something modifyed?

Sorry my glass bowl of miracles isn't working today.

Good luck, Kay

Twist the light switch back and forth with the lights on. The rheostat could be in the off position or it might have found a dead spot. Poor contact is common but the rheostat can be bypassed if necessary.

Hi,

My 1800ES does the same, as Derek says "twist the light switch gently with the lights on" it will most likely be the 'dimming' rheostat built into the switch.

Turn the plastic knob very gently until you reach the brightest setting for your instrument lights, probably quite close to the anti-clockwise stop.

Hope this helps.

Putos;

It is common for resistance wire of rheostat variable control to develop surface oxidation that the variable slider fails to make contact through...see also: http://www.sw-em.com/Intermittent_Va...t_Lighting.htm

Could even be just the bulb holders not earthing properly in the recesses of the alloy instrument cluster. Mine are a real PITA and have to be manipulated from time to time!
