I do 1,000 miles a week in my C70's. 1 of them has covered 225,000 miles, fairly hard and only needed a radiator outside routine servicing and I bought another having got rid of a new Astra GTC diesel and Merc E350 cdi! So that's testament to the durability of the C70.

Maintenance is key on these, stay on top of regular oil changes and service schedules. If doing a lot of miles, you will not want the powerflex engine mounts as I fitted one only to have it removed immediately. It ruins the car cruiser character transmitting far too much vibration and noise into the cabin.
I think the reason he bought a 2 litre instead of a T5 was probably to do with the taxation system in Ireland where insuring a T5 could cost 1300 euro a year. A 2.0 is about 710 a year which is still costly though not as bad.
