Default Surprised but happy....

I normally don't use petrol additives, but something made me buy a pot of Redex petrol system cleaner for my 2004 V70 AWD R man. Perhaps it was the 50% discount Tesco offered
Long story short, on the 180 mile journey from home to my daughters in Lincolnshire and back the car averaged 35.1mpg. An unequalled figure for this or any other journey. Due to the roads (A68 ; A1;A17) the car sat at 60mph on cruise for huge periods of time. My previous best was a trip to London a couple of years back again at 60MPH on cruise and I got 31.4mpg. OK they are the computer figures, but I was surprised by the 10% improvement for a £2 outlay. The sceptic and cynic in me is still trying to find fault with the results. That did not stop me while it was still on offer buying 2 more pots, another for me and one for my daughter.

Cheers

Bob

I used Red-Ex quite a lot on my Astra. Little 1.6 8v and didn't really see any benefit.

Used 1 bottle of it on my D2 and again, didn't see any improvement.

Not saying it doesn't work, it obviously does otherwise it wouldn't sell. It's been around for years and years as well.

However, I have been converted to using BG244 for diesels. They also do BG44K for petrols.

You should give that a go. Since I've used it, my MPG went up and has stayed up.
