Hello Everyone!!

Today, on highway I had to press the brake pedal with consideravel force and the flexivel pipe/hose break, on the left wheel........ I had so lucky for didn't hit the car in my front.

Well, tomorrow I will have the task to change it and the brakes' oil.

There is any recomendations/attentions that i need to have with both processes?

1 - Hose replacement
2 - Oil replacement

Thanks to everyone that could help me.

Replace all four flexible hoses. If one has burst all the others will be in a similar condition. When bleeding the brakes use a pressure bleeder if you can as it will get the air out of the ABS pump much quicker. Once the brakes are bled also bleed the clutch as they share the same fluid reservoir.

Glad you managed to stop without any accident. You are lucky you live in a beautiful part of the world, we love the coast near you.

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

In fact I don't have the pressure bleeder pump but I assume that I can do the bleeding process "manually"....right?

Yeap, Portugal it's a beautiful country, mainly for vacations!!

I am assuming that as you had a hose burst under pressure you will have lost the fluid in the master cylinder by now and will have air in the ABS pump. The passages in the pump are very small and can be difficult to get the air out of all of them, hence the pressure bleeder is best. I have never dealt with air in the ABS pump as I have always been lucky and kept fluid in the reservoir when bleeding.

Bleed the brakes as normal and then go round and bleed again, so that you get a fair amount of fluid through the pump to flush the air out. Road test afterwards on one of your quiet roads and see if the ABS works as it should. If it does all should be good, if not it will need further bleeding.

I'm sure someone with experience of this will be along soon.

The clutch is bled is much the same way, the bleed nipple is on the slave cylinder, which is on top of the bell housing, underneath the big "concertina" hose.

If the clutch is working as normal, it's probably fine. Just make sure the brake reserviour is topped up properly.

Reason: The clutch actually has a second smaller reserviour, gravity fed from the brake reserviour. Although the feed is very near the top, it's likely it'll have bubbled itself out since the clutch's reserviour is mounted physically lower. Although it's technically possible to get air in the clutch's master cylinder, in practice it hardly ever happens. A lovely piece of good design.
