Hello,
Just need some confirmation and a little insight on this issue: 2001 Volvo V40 1.6 Manual (Reverser left then up). I imagine I have the Renault gearbox? The main concern is there is a horrendous grinding when the clutch is engaged (foot off the clutch) which is I imagine is usually an input shaft bearing failure? - Possibly a flywheel issue? It does this in all gears including neutral. 3rd gear isn't as noisy as all the others. Does this point more to the gearbox end? Does your experience tell you it is a input shaft bearing or something maybe even more sinister? Thanks. Last edited by Kuneha; Oct 2nd, 2017 at 15:21. |

There's something in the back of my mind about a securing nut inside the gearbox coming loose and causing this. I'm sure someone will come along with a better answer.
