This is an unfortunate issue with buying another manufacturers car from a main dealer. I had a colleague that bought a Volvo from another brands main dealer, and it took them 6 weeks prevaricating over this and that, instead of just letting Volvo sort it out (the car was permanently in limp mode). He ended up just paying the Volvo bill (new alternater), as the car was older and not with any warrenty. But fortunately the dealer he bought from absorbed the bills for the work they did unnecessarily.

todays update, we rang toyota today, they are sending our car back to volvo dealership we took it to,to do the work required and are paying the bill til warranty company pays up, god knows why they didnt do this before? just waiting for volvo to ring us to tell us when to take it in, beggers belief. volvo for ever warranty company agreed to pay for the work to be done but volvo refused to do the work til they got paid, reason being lack of trust in warranty companies ie going bust, refusing to pay for work etc and i completely understand as they are an insurance company at the end of the day and will wriggle to get out of paying out. id5 courtesy car? have purchased toyota gold warranty which covers 5 days car hire, they give you a car if yours has a covered part which has failed. the laughable thing toyota has said this warranty which they sold us and told us and volvo they have never known not pay out they have to check the warranty company are going to pay up before they pay volvo for the work.

the reason we purchased from toyota was the fact it was the right car at the right price and right year, would of purchased from volvo dealer if they could of competed, but everything at volvo for the price we could afford was older than we wanted or had more miles on than we wanted. too be honest this was the best car we saw including some priced at £20000 at some car supermarkets.

Scotch glen here's a tip make sure tilt belt has been replaced bad for breaking and in some cases damaging engine

volvo for ever, tilt belt? its had auxillary belt done on last service 46331 miles, done by riverside doncaster already checked that had been done before purchasing

Ask the Volvo dealer how long the work will take and if they will give you an extension for the courtesy car if it is over the five days.
