Default Alternatives for original fabric carpets

Hi,

I have a 2000 Volvo V70 (P80). I want to replace the thick fabric carpets (front and back) in my car, but unfortunately, it is not available anywhere. Could anyone tell me if there are any alternatives for it or from where I could purchase the original version? I am attaching the picture of what I am looking for.

Thanking you all in advance for your replies.

You could try getting them washed , in a commercial washing machine. Then getting them dyed , so they are a more even colour.
The alternative is having some custom made at a trimmers , but will not be cheep.
Have you tried washing them in a bath , with shampoo. Head and shoulders for greasy hair does a very good job. I have cleaned several sets like this.

As above ^^^^^^^

I find Autoglym Machine Clean very good on carpets. Spray on and leave to soak for a few minutes, then wash with a scrubbing brush and warm water with a little drop of washing up liquid in. Then wash all the detergent and mucky water out with a garden hose or a pressure washer. Don't worry about getting the carpet or foam backing wet. Hose down until the water runs clean. hang up to drain - it will take about 24hrs - and then place in the sun or bring in the house to finally dry. I have washed several carpet sets in this manner and they come up like new. The alternative is to get some decent carpets from a scrappie and wash them as above.

Hi, Thank you for the reply. Yes, just few weeks back we had all the seats removed and the carpets taken out. They were brushed and lathered and cleaned using the Karcher 8/1c. But still they feel and look very old. Yes we could dye it maybe. But another problem is that have become sort of brittle. While trying to take it out from the car, the carpet just tore off just couple of centimetres. So it was then We thought whether we could replace. Even if we try a used one, it will still be as old.

ITSv40, I live in Finland and during this time of the year, Sun and Sunshine is very hard to come by.

Aah. You must have the luxury of a sauna - they would dry in there

If your carpets are breaking up, I would try to get some better original ones. It will be very difficult to manufacture new ones and get a good fit and appearance.

What we did is that, we have a small storage room and after washing all the carpets, we laid them all inside and switched on the portable heaters. The temperature inside was around 30 deg C. So everything dried in like 10-15 hours.

I also think to find a used original ones which are in good condition. I will continue to look all through this winter and if I get one, will replace in summer.

How about offcuts of real carpet ? A proper Wilton, or Axminster ? You could stoop to some nylon foam-backed cheapies for the authentic look.

Though the idea seems to be interesting, I think it could be very expensive as these sort of things are better left to professionals. But if you meant it as DIY, I am sure, to ends of the world, I would massively ruin it.
