I recently replaced rear discs and pads with Mintex kit-easy to fit,(bought a caliper rewind tool from Halfords, made the job easier!). 3,000 miles later very happy with them,no squeal or excessive dust, braking seems good. Also excellent prices on Ebay at the mo!

Just replaced discs/pads all round on my V40 (late '99).

Use the threaded holes in the discs with a couple bolts to remove the old discs from the hub (I think it was M8??). It's a lot quicker than using a hammer and there's no risk of damaging anything else (including your thumb!!)

Hope this helps!

I changed my front and rear in about an hour ( I can cheat alittle as I work in a BMW garage and have all the nec tools) only used a big pair of stillon type grips for the front but used a piston wind tool on the rear though.

My V40 now has black diamonds all round and now they have bedded in they are not half bad( teach me to drive too fast, hey)

I have had Mintex 1144 compound pads and Mintex C-tech discs on the front of my T4 for over a year now, and that included 2 track days. Fantastic from cold, a little brake dust but no more than the OEM and pretty good on track, although after some research the 1155 compound is almost as good from cold but WAAAY better after giving it some stick. The fade point is a lot higher. Only problem I've found with either is the fact that unless you fit the anti-squeal shims (a horrendous 99p each!) it will sound like a farmyard full of pigs.

TMD friciton sent me the shims for nothing after I complained of the noise without them. I have C-Tech discs and pads all round and like you I think they are fantastic(with the shims fitted). Get them fitted to the rear too it makes a big difference.
