Buy something like this:

http://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/...ItNWwtbDUtZ2Fz

Then bring it to a good exhaust shop for installation.

I showed this to a local muffler guy (as my rear muffler is molting heavily) and he said he'd gladly install it.

That £100 kit might be cheap. I don't know.

I'm about to venture out in the cold to clean the C30, sizing up some marigolds and warm water as a potential 'less nippy' alternative...

Happy New Year to all!

Kwik Fit can't fit, local independent wants £305 for a pattern part (rear box only), even my regular Volvopartstrade chap on eBay, from memory, doesn't do exhaust parts.

This is fast becoming eye-wateringly expensive....

Good info for those who need to find their trannie dipstick.

Funnel fit? Get a regular, cheap 4" to 6" funnel and extend it with 200 gto 250mm of 5/8" ID clear tubing.
Heat an end in boiling water. Stretch the clear hose on the funnels nose.
Voila', instant confined reach funnel.

Coming back home

Just did 13 hours straight behind wheel, and stopped for a nap.

I'm somewhere between Berlin and Hanover.. I think..

Ok, so bad and lazy me, condemning the exhaust just because it was hanging at an odd angle and made a crispy crunchy sound when I pushed it back into place, exactly as if the joint had rotted through and the pipe was falling out of the box.....
Actually turned out that the mid-hanger had rotted right through and the tail pipe hanger was the only thing holding it all up, and that had rotted through as well, hence the crunchy noise when I pushed it back in to place.

Ten notes for a mid-hanger repair bracket, a few blobs of copper grease, just in case I should ever want to remove it again, and a couple of cable ties holding the tailpipe hanger together till I can get a new bracket with the nice dog leg arm on it, and bosh! Job done.

Had I waited of course, then the whole thing would have come down, possibly punched a hole in the floor and certainly damaged the day of any port sod unlucky enough to be following me.
Lesson of the day? Just because you've spent 4 years waiting for your exhaust to fall off, don't just assume that it is dead when a few quid's worth of bracketed will see you sorted.
