All V50 diesels are turbocharged so if you don't have one it's been removed and your dashboard will be lit up like a Christmas tree with errors.

Does the noise get louder proportionally with the position of your foot on the accelerator? If so, it could be a split in the intercooler hose that runs from the intercooler to the turbo. You'll see oily deposits surrounding everything near the split if that's what it is.

Interesting, my 9-5 has wind deflectors and you start to hear noise above 60MPH.

I can absolutely assure your 2.0 diesel DOES have a turbo. I think the last Volvo diesel to not have a turbo was the first batch of low powered 1.9D V40's in the late 1990's.

As iainmd said, check the intercooler hoses and other turbo related bits. Also, follow the pipe from your air filter, and at the other end there will be a turbocharger.

My 2.0 is designated as D3 and has a tiny turbo. It is behind the engine, so you would not normally see it.

Continous wind noise can be from turbo issues, but are probably unrelated. Maybe some plastic trim on the bumper is out of alignment?

Did you have the car for some time and is this a new issue?

Ill have a look. I have 57 plate se lux. Trim seems tight ill jack it up on the weekend and update. I tried rexording it but it doesnt do it any justice..

I had the same noise, I thought that is coming from brand new reconditioned turbo, but a closer look, I noticed some oil around air cond. pipe and other components, finally spotted the root cause of it. Got new one for 16£ replaced it and all good.
