That's a very remarkable difference, all the more since Citroën has (had?)
a strong reputation concerning suspension systems.

Why not the tyres for sure? Mine is very sensitive to tyre pressure- if it’s too high it is very fidgety and probably more so in the wind.

Could be that it’s lighter than xc90 but has similar profile.

They were in a mega rush to release xc60 following from success of xc90 so it wouldn’t surprise me if they cut a few corners. If they failed crosswind tests it would be back to drawing board and long delay.

@Deman77: And what makes you think they started drawing the XC60 after the XC90 release? If anything- the 60 being the best selling model in Volvo’s history- they worked on it longer than they did on the 90..

Anyhu, back on the topic- yes, I’d agree with Deman77- tire pressure is def in play when it comes to sidewind sway, as is sidewall height, tire load index, etc.

A lot of it is in the “eye of the beholder” too- someone switching to an XC from a low riding highway cruiser like a 5-series BMW will ofcourse feel the XC is more sensitive to strong wind gusts.. However, comparing equal to equal- eg. a VW Touareg which I had as a company car for a while - it felt like a cardbox on springs under the sidewinds compared to either XC60 or 90..

You made me smile with that one. Well ...what can i say? we need to live with that problem of wind gusts but height (that doesn't help in that particular issue) can be also an advantage and i speak for my car specifically, has many positive things. One thing is to have almost always priority in roundabouts and intersections. People tend to let me pass :P

I wouldn't worry.. SPAs are as planted as it gets in the world of SUVs..

Compare that to, for eg. the new RAV4 they just tested recently:

Laughable..

Yeah...as someone wrote in the comments section... that RAV4 is an hipoppotamus with wheels. Such an "elegant" machine... 😁
