Ouch! Part of a main service though, I assume?

This replacement was previously scheduled for 108k, but has recently been revised forward, yeah?

originally 144000 / 10 years now 90000 / 10 years , not likely to be part of the service with the parts around £200 assuming the aux belt and tensioner are also changed at the same time

water pumps are never in the scheduled service on a volvo .
I haven't heard anything to say the aux belt and tensioner has to be changed ,
worth getting that clarified . It might still be safe for 144000 miles / 10 years .

Cypher007 has a 5-cylinder engine, surely those do need scheduled aux belt and tensioner replacements?

sorry yes , it gets confusing sometimes with multiple quotes and posts :-0

5 cylinder cambelt and aux belt and the related tensioners are 108000 miles / 10 years which ever comes first with the aux belt being changed by itself every 54000 miles .

Yes wallet did let out a squeak! Had 90k Service done a couple of months back and subsequently courtesy of Clan discovered Volvo had moved the goalposts on the cambelt. As its show season the car is going to be doing a lot of towing so decided not to give Volvo any excuse should it fail. As well as the Cambelt kit got the Aux belt kit done as well whilst they were there.
Not sure if it would have been cheaper as part of the service as everything seems to be priced per task.

Clan - apologies for raising this issue again but in which direction do I point my dealer to this - Iam being told that the "system" is reporting that the car is due both belts and tensioners at 6 years service (only done 40000 miles) . 6 years is presumably 6 x 18000 mile ie 108000 miles. but your advices suggest that the time based interval is 10 years not 6? - 2014 XC 60 5 D5 220. Dontbhave an aversion to getting the cambelt replaced - but I do like to have the proper advice
