Just checked the alternator and you guys were right, the alternator was wired wrong, I had put the small red wire on the wrong terminal (guessing it's the rpm for the diesel) I put it on the other one and all the dash lights have gone off!! Still have the hunting issue though

Can you get a photo of the back (connection) side of the alternator? As hi-res/big as possible really.

As i said way back in the thread, if the alternator isn't charging it will cause bad running, some systems take the field (warning light) voltage to determine this and as your warning lights aren't going out, the fuel ECU will register lack of charge, regardless of what the alternator is putting out.

If you click on it then it should take you to the proper image I think.

As I say though, now I changed the small wire my dash lights are all out except for abs which I guess has an issue?

TPS

TPS

Still TPS

The engine management get the signal:
Foot of accelerator - throttle closed
Result: switch of fuel to save energy ( overrun fuel cut off)

It's really simple, trust me.

And again:
-Remove the throttle body
-clean the butterfly
-adjust the gap between butterfly and housing
-glue the screw with paint, never touch this again.( Everyone who is working on this screw should be punished)
-adjust the TPS
-mount the throttle body
-adjust the rod

There will be only one other fault: broken wire between TPS and ECU.

Can't believe this by having a closer look to the engine bay

Good luck, Kay

Just checked timing, I have been taking the longer mark as 0° is this correct?

If so then I lined up the crank pulley with that one if you look square on at the plate which is slightly off set.

I then looked at the cam which is marked with white pen and also appears to be out slightly. Could this be the issue or am I referencing it to the wrong marks, guessing these white marks aren't original marks?

I did try adjusting the TPS bit made no difference. I'll take it off give it a clean and put it all back then. What exactly do you mean by adjust the gap between the butterfly, what should it be?
Do you want some pictures of the engine bay, what of?

wrong : tdc is 1 inch to the right.

Small gap, hold the body in front of a light. If you turn out the screw the butterfly will touch the body. Turn in the screw till you see a small gap, like crescent. Secure the screw, check again.

No pics needed
