Suspension Coil Spring Seat Spacers
In checking that I have all the new suspension bushes/parts for a full rebuild, I notice that The "Green Book" parts list/exploded diagram includes a rubber spacer (item 59) above another spacer (item 60) which I assume is metal.
Assembly shown in the book is item 60 spacer on top of coil spring followed by item 59 rubber spacer on top of item 60. I don't seem to be able to find a new replacement for item 60 listed by parts suppliers and so please can someone advise whether these are in fact available and if so, where, or have they been deleted for some reason and therefore not necessary. Thanks. |

I already have newish rubber spacers (item 59) for the top of the coil springs but the volvo parts list/diagram also shows what appears to be an "intermediate spacer" (item 60) that fits between the coil spring and the rubber spacer and so my enquiry concerns these. What are they and where can I get a pair?
My assumption is that it may be a metal spring seat spacer designed to provide a smooth circumferential interface with the rubber spacer rather than allowing the finished end of the coil spring to dig into the rubber, presumeably extending the life of the rubber spacer. I guess that if such an intermediate spacer is advisable, then I can probably source something from another manufaturer/supplier if volvo/pattern parts are not available? Anyone able to provide some wisdom? Also, are poly versions of the rubber spacers available? |
