Default v60 d5 auto maintenance advice

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some clarity/advice.

I've just bought a 2012 V60 D5 auto from a reputable dealer (non Volvo), it's covered 65k, the car has a full Volvo history and was last serviced in January. I called my local Volvo dealer to confirm the history and they were able to confirm that it was accurate, but where vague as to what has actually been done as they say they can't see that detail, just serviced at x date on x miles.

To he honest, I'm a little confused as to when the timing belt etc needs to be changed, the dealer has told me it needs to done by 10 changed years or 108k miles, but I've seen on that it needs to be changed at 6 years?

What is correct, as I'd rather just change it now if it needs to be done?

I'm looking to keep the car for a number of years, is there any other preventative maintenance anyone would recommend?

Thanks in advance

The auxiliary belt should be changed every 5 years or 54 thousand miles. Whichever comes first.
The timing belt should be changed every 10 years or 108 thousand miles. I whichever comes first.

If the car has been used for towing previously, or had a hard life (used as a taxi for instance) then it is recommended to have the gearbox oil replaced.

Congratulations on your purchase. We like photos of cars here

good advice there , one point the aux belt is every 54000 miles it is the MILES that are important there is no time stipulation ... so if you do low mileage you will change the aux belt less often . BUT the Aux belt and tensioner are ALWAYS changed when the cam belt is ...

Thanks both for your advice, I'm getting it booked on for a aux belt change and gearbox oil change this week.

I'll get some pictures up, it's a great car and I'm enjoying it so far, much, much nice then my 2019 diesel Honda civic company car.
