Default V90 rear light cluster damaged.

I got an error for a rear light malfunction. Rear passenger on left side was out but was OK after restarting car. Error reoccurred and during daylight hours I found there was actual damage to light and crack in assembly.
This is the assembly that slopes down from roof. No idea how it could even have been hit by anyone....
Does none know if easily replaced and likely cost of part. I am suspecting I may need to take to insurance if I can't do myself

Here you go, £198 + vat:

I suspect it's an interior trim removal job, shouldn't be too difficult?

It’s quite a hassle to replace. It’s one of the best looking designs but it’s a nightmare to swap.

Guy I know paid 400 quid fitted for a new V90 light cluster from his dealer so you can save a few quid fitting it yourself.

If the same as the XC90 then you need to remove some interior trim, and start to slide the bumper, not necessarily fully remove. This is relatively easy once you know how the tabs release. I did mine in about 1hr 15 and did not remove the bumper at all - as could not work out how the clips worked - so did fairly brutally 'ease' the bumper. Am not sure I would recommend that method.

The light cluster is NOT coded to the car so it is plug and play.

Also TBH even at 400 quid I would not involve insurance. With the excess and then increased premiums for the next 5 years on all cars you drive then it will likely cost you lots more than 400 quid in total.....
