Default Parking sensor, No 4 on an 06 XC90

Just had car through MOT and service items.
garage coughed up DTC code for Park assist sensor no 4. Are they identifiable by location i.e front /rear, left side right side,
How do I locate and replace sensor?
I know I need to remove the bumper to get at it or is there an easier way?
Any help appreciated.

No. 4 sensor is the far one on the drivers side (on a UK car).

It is possible to change the sensor without removing the bumper if you drive the sensor into the bumper with a drift which will enable you to remove the collar and then the old sensors with long nose pliers, you can then fit the new sensor to the collar and re-install.

That's not the prescribed method and there is a small risk of damage but I've done it successfully 10+ times and it saves hours....

Sorry Swiss my typo... what I meant to say was number 4 is the far right hand side one on a UK spec car when viewed from the rear... as you had already said... :-)

Are there specific sensors for specific locations?
Do you need to reset system after fitting?
Do you have a part number and do you need to buy one that includes the locking ring?

Check the fuse in the rear fuse compartment. after fixing no 3 on mine(they're all the same -ebay about £8- the dosey bloke who owned it befoer me had put a new fuse back in carrier 24 not 25, moved the fuse swapped the faulty sensor job done. Easier to remove whole bumper, only takes an hour on and off. Good luck

Smile Just used this sensor and it works

Hi,
I replaced a sensor in December using this part, it works just fine and for £12 delivered.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-XC9...72.m2749.l2649

Mine is also a 2006 (06) XC90 D5 185bhp.
I found getting the right part quite difficult for a 06MY, most sites quote the 2006 as 163BHP and 2007 (facelift) as 185BHP yet the 185 was introduced pre facelift.
I got the part number from VIDA and matched it that way.
Hope this helps.
Wish I had known about not removing the bumper. It was not too bad but the clips just behind the wheel arch were so tight..... Much easier second time (don't ask).
