Default XC60 D4 AWD Inscription MY18 Intercooler Hose

Hello everyone from Istanbul,

Hence there are not enough people here to ask and UK is a place where diesel Volvo's are also popular, I wanted get your help/advise about what happened to my Volvo at the milage of 58000KM (appr. 40K miles)

while accelerating normally from a regular stop, heard a kind of minor pop-up noise from the engine then the screen showed, "reduced engine performance" , together with a turtle icon (in orange). No message to stop the car but the performance of the car was significantly lower (like without turbo). Called Volvo road assistance and the mechanic they connected me were asking if there was also a whistling sound from the engine, when I confirm he said it is most likely intercooler hose (a pressurized pipe connected to turbo). It was kind of no surprise to the guy.

in the morning they tow the car to the service center and I learned clearly that the intercooler air hose has been broken (it was a chronic problem of the earlier D4 engines) and will be replaced. They replaced it but advised to make few more checks that might cause that around the radiator area. I left the car with them for an estimated 3 days operation.

anybody of you experienced similar problem? I herd some stories of earlier model owners that even though they change the pipe, it happens again in a year or so. even multiple times.

I will highly appreciate any advise.

As far as I know, D4 do not have PowerPulse? However it seems like a similar problem and solution.

The strange thing was the mechanic I had talked on the night by phone immediately recognized it in 5 seconds of discussion. it was kind of a very ordinary issue for him.
