volvo 850 2.5 turbo conversion
hi from what i have read there is no way of converting the 2.5 n/a to a turbo
from what ive read it shouldnt be a problem with a stand alone ecu? surely its just the case of getting a intake manifold a set of silicone piping from a turbo a exhaust manifold and down pipe plut the turbo and the oil feed pipes i know im forgetting some things but you will get the basic idea? what hasnt been made clear is the reason why it isnt doable to convert these engines people are usually saying its not worth it money wise well i cant get a 850r for less than 6k my car is spotless and low miles i plan on keeping it for a long time ive priced the full turbo system used from a 2.3 for 350 all in and 130 extra on top for the new silicone piping and then probably another 200 for misc parts and a intercooler so say i spend a grand im sure i can do it for a grand or under then im left with a car that is very clean rust free dent free and it has a 2.5 turbo in it! im just wondering what the compression ratio is compared to the turbo model? would this be my major issue? how was the compression lowered from the factory? |

Course it can be done anything is possible mate.
i say go for it and get it done. I can't see any major issues from what you may face? But you say you've got a 2.4 T5 Lump to go in? Lucky man as those engines are alot more stronger than 2.3 I can tell you now i am subbed to your build and i hope you achieve. I currently in the same process as you with my T5. Started doing a hub conversion, going for 5x108 to 5x114.3, Once iv got my ass in gear and actually finish it i plan to get a custom exhaust manifold and bolt on my 18g Turbo....And yes i mean G not T |
